The 1st Tolo Harbour 10 Km Race - 2007/4/1

Just having completed the captioned race in 49 mins 0x secs in the morning today.

Unfortunately there was no rain, and the appearance of the sun slowed me down a lot in the final 2 Kms.

I was overtaken by 2 female runners in the last km, and lacked motivation to overtake them.

I enjoyed the race anyway.

The souvenir tee was not good in design though.

Mount Butler 15 Km Race - 2007/3/25

Mount Butler 15 Km Race - 2007/3/25

Despite having completed a 7 Km race in 31 mins (my PB) yesterday, I still managed to complete the Mt Butler 15 K in 1 hr 23 mins+ today.

The completion time was already 6 mins+ faster than my record last year.

The high hudmidity and warm temperature added difficulties to the race.

However I still enjoyed the race pretty much.

Immigration 7 Km (invitation) Race - 2007/3/24

Completed the captioned race in Tai Mei Tuk in 31 mins in the morning today.

With an occasional shower, the weather today was nice for running race.

Another good race again.

AVOHK Malcolm Phillips Memorial Run 2007 - 07/3/17

Having attended the captioned race in a rainy weather at Wanchai Gap in the afternoon today.

Despite the rain and the slippery race course, I managed to completed the race in 25 mins+. This was my personal best at the same course so far already.

The souvenir was a blue back pack which was so nice in design.

Another amazing race organized by AVOHK.

Thanks Peter for the nice pictures.

New Balance Reservoir Cup III 2007 (Tai Tam) - 07/3/11

Having completed the captioned Race in 1 hr 7 mins in the morning today.

The hig humidity and warm temperature making the run more difficult, and the Boa Pass was pretty slippery.

Despite the unfavourable factors, I still found the race enjoyable. Moreover I was delighted to meet with so many members from hkrunners.com today.

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2007 - 2007/3/4

Just completed the half marathon in the misty morning today.

I was caught in the course congestion in the first 4 Km and had to spent 25 mins (which was my slowest time).

After the 5 Km I sped up and had a nice run afterwards. However the race course become extremely congested after we half marahon runners ran into those slowly walking 10 Km runners in the Western Tunnel.

I had to apology to those 10 Km joggers/walkers being pushed by me on the way.

Finally I completed the race in 1 hr 55 mins (at least 5 mins slower than I expected)

Apart form the poor arrangement of the starting time, the race was nice organizied.

Mizuno Fat Choy Run 2007 - 2007/2/20

Just having completed the 8 Km race at The Peak in 39 mins+ in the morning today.

The hudmidity was extremely high and the fog was very thick. My glasses kept blur along the race course and preventing me from running faster.

However I managed to take over many runners in the last 50 m uphill course. It's nice to have met so many members of hkrunners.com after the race.

Another nice race organized by HKLRRC.

Thx Thomas FAN for taking pics in such foggy weather.

New Balance Reservoir Cup Race II - Tam Lam Chung

New Balance Reservoir Cup Race II - Tai Lam Chung

Just completed the captioned race in 1 hr 22 mins+ in the morning today.Despite the time was not fast and I walked several uphill sessions, it was still my PB in the same race course. My last try in 2005 was 1 hr 25 mins+.It's nice to meet so many hk runners members today.

Especially we met hkflyer's wife and his lovely baby - a strong and extremely cute boy!

A nice race held by AVOHK again!

Pacer 10 Km Run 2007 - 2007/2/4

I completed the captioned race in 43 mins 32 secs in the morning today which was without doubt my PB in 10 Km races. However I strongly suspect the race course's distance might be at least 500 metres shorter. The race was well organized by the Pacer Runners Club and the souvenir blur long sleeves tee was nice and comfortable. However the queue in claiming the souvenir and water was a little bit too long.Thx On Chai and JW402 for the taking of my picture.

HK 15 Km Challenge 2007 - 07/1/28

Just having completed the captioned race in 1 hr 18 mins+ in the cold weather in the morning on 2007/1/28.

Despite the completion time was not very fast, it was already my personal best in the same route.

I completed the race in 1 hr 23 mins last year.

The race was well organized by HKAAA and sponsored by Kamachi. The souvenir tee was nice in design and was probably my first Kamachi product so far.

China Coast Half Marathon 2007 - 07/1/21

Completed my 2nd China Coast Half Marathon in 1 hr 53 mins+. Despite the completing time was not fast enough, it's my PB in CCM already.

I completed my 1st half marathon of CCM in 2 hrs 3 mins in 2004.

I guess I had not conducted adequate warm up and inadequate sleep (2.5 hrs) leading me to suffer from painful right bottom muscle during the longest downslope section. I was forced to slow down while other runners kept passing me.

It's a nice run anyway.

Sunday, January 14, 2007

Perskindol Shatin 10 Km 2007 - 07/1/14

Just completed the captioned race in 47 mins + in the morning today.

The cooler temperature making the race quite enjoyable, despite the smog was still serious.

I began to feel hungry at 7 Km and sped up to the finishing point afterward.

A young runner failed to take over me in the last 10 metres before the finishing line.

A nice race organisied by Marathon Pro (compared with the chaotic Tsuen Wan New Year Run this run was more perfect).

The release of the result was so efficient. I ranked 221 among 715 finishing runners.

Mizuno Hong Kong Half Marathon 2007 - 2007/1/7

Just completed the Mizuno Half Marathon in Tai Mei Tuk in the morning on 2007/1/7.

The temperature was so cold that I wore long sleeves running tee with a cotton gloves.

My completion time was 1 hr 47 mins which was PB for both HM or Mizuno HM.

The race was well organized and I enjoyed it very much. Despite the big logo on the Mizuno souvenir tee is too cute.

Nice race held by HKAAA.

Chaotic Tsuen Wan District New Year Distance Run 2007 - 07/01/01

This race held by Tsuen Wan District Sports & Recreation Association was the most chaotic, disorganizing and "silly" races I have ever attended (already attended more than 100 races in 3 year).

- Without sending acceptance letters, the organizer asked the runners to show their HKID cards when collecting number bibs (No problem to me but probably creating problems to some runners)

- The organizer announced the names of the runners who failed to pay the entry fees. This was absolutely unnecessary coz the entry fees when number bibs being collected. Moreover it's only $20.(what the big deal?)

- The organizer asked the runners to collect the souvenirs and deposit their number bibs (without prior announcement again). All the other race organizers only mark the number bib with sign pens.

- I even found the voice of the announcement being impolite and annoying.

- Due to the anger I even forgot to press my stop watch and only knew I ranked No. 44 (in my age group or taotal?)

- The souvenir mug is so small and ugly that looked like the mug used by prisoners. I will not collect it if I know it is so ugly.

- I will never attend this race again even the race is free of charge. The race organizing by LCSD and Sai Kung District Sports Association became so good compared with this "messy" race.

- The worst thing id the organizer showed no respect to the runners. (Why bother to hold a running race then?)

I seriously recommend the organizer not to hold this race in 2008 with a view to saving the time of the volunteers and runners, and save the pulic fund too.

Mizuno Boxing Day Run 2006

Just completed the 4Km Boxing Day Run in 21 mins+ in the morning today.
The fine weather & cooler temperature was perfect for running.
However there were so many youngsters jamming the race course today.
A youngster failed to over take me in the last second before the finishing line.

Nice race!

Saturday, December 16, 2006

Southern District 5 Km Beach Run 2006

Just completed the 5 Km Southern District Beach Run in 22 mins + in the cool tenperature in the morning today.

Running on sands is more difficult than my expecting.

Once is enough for my beach run experience.
Nice race anyway.

Sunday, December 10, 2006

New Balnace Reservoir Cup 06 - 07 Race I - Aberdeen Reservoir

Having completed the race in 1 hr 03 mins+ in the morning today.

The cooler temperature making the run more comfortable.

Nice race organized by AVOHK again.

2nd Hong Kong Runner Half Marathon - 2006/11/26

Just having completed the captioned race in 1 hr 50 mins in the morning today.

The high hudmidity and smoggy air increased a lot of difficulties to the race.

I still had strength to sprint at the last km and overtook several runners before the finishing line.

Nice run again.

Nike 10 Km Challenge 2006

Nike 10 Km Challenge completed.

Just having completed the Nike 10 Km Challenge in 48 mins+ today.
Despite the completion time was not very fast, it was already 5 mins faster than my time last years.

I only did a 10 Km running session on last Thursady. This probably proves my "lazy" theory that train less and run faster.

Resting is pretty important to me than hard working training.
Although the humidity was high with the smoggy air, I did enjoy the race today.

Just learnt from TV news that several runners were hospitalized. Wishing they getting well soon.

Sunday, November 12, 2006

Gold Coast 15 Km 2006

Just having completed the captioned race in 1 hr 17 mins+ in the morning today.
Despite the time was not very fast, it's probably my PB in the same race.
The temperature was pretty hot under the strong sunlight today, and I felt exhausted after 10 Km.
I had to fasten my pace after 12 Km to avoid being overtaken by a veteran female runner.
At the last 500 m I was overtaken by a short male runner, and I had no intention to compete with him to avoid injury before Nike 10 Km on next Sunday.

Really a nice race today!

Saturday, November 04, 2006

HKDRC Half Marathon 2006

Having completed the race in 1 hr 48 mins+ in the morning today.
Despite it's not a fast time, it is already my PB in half marathon.
The temperature and windless making the run a little bit difficult.
Nice race anyway.

AVOHK 5 Km Run Race III 2006

Having completed the captioned race in 22 mins+ at 1600 hra at Bowen Road today. It's probably my PB at the race of 5 Km running so far.

The weather today was perfect for running despite the trail was still packed with walking pedestrains.

I really enjoyed the race today, and was glad to meet some new friends too.

Hong Kong Cross Country Championship 2006 (10 Km)

Just having completed the 10 Km HK X Country Run in 61 mins+ at Wanchai of Sai Kung in the morning today. The time was not good coz the 4 laps of stony trail almost killed me indeed.

I woke up at 0415 hrs and had my breakfast and watching Spanish League (2nd half of Deportivo vs Madrid) at a HK style restaurant at Tin Hau.

The route to the racing venue is so long that I slept all the way from Tin Hau to Wong Shek Pier, and take a vessel to the Wanchai.

The race was well organized, but it's sad to see many runners suffered from injury. A male runner fell over and becoming unconscious afterwards. I witnessed the injured runner being transported by the vessel before the police vessel arrived 20 minutes later.

I really enjoy the run despite my completion time was not good.

Saturday, October 07, 2006

Lok Wah Cup Quarter Marathon 2006

Just having completed the Lok Wah Cup Quarter Marathon 2006 in Tai Po in 54 mins in the morning tody.

The temperature was hot with sunny sky today which making the run a little bit harder.

I managed to overtake several runners before the finishing line.

There are runners who joined the race in memory of the late police runner Tony which adding more meaning to the race today.

Nice run!

PRC Anniversary 10 Km Run 2006

Having completed the captioned race in 48 mins 30 secs at the dam of Plover Cove Reservoir in the morning on 2006/10/1 (Sunday).

The temperature was cooler with breeze making the race enjoyable.

I finally ranked 193 among 459 runners which was a quite good result to me already.

I found a runner suffered from over heated and stretched legs just one Km before the finishing point. I slowed down my pace afterwards. The injured runner was later sent to the hospital by ambulance vehicle.

AVOHK 5 Km 2006 - Race 1

I attended the captioned at Wanchai Gap in the afternoon on 2006/9/23 (Sunday) and completed the race in about 26 mins. (ranked 11x in 194 finishers)

The race was held at Wan Chai Gap with about 1 Km uphill race course, then some trail and down hill road.

The temperature was still hot, but becoming cooler with some nice breeze.

A well organized race indeed.

Saturday, September 16, 2006

Coke Run 7 Km 2006 - 2006/9/17

I have completed the captioned race in 35 mins+ in the morning today.

There were so many participants today (over 1,000 runners) making the narrow trail beside Shing Mun River very crowdy.

The race began at 0830 hrs after the sun fully expressed it's power, and the final 2 Km I really felt like panned fish on a heated wok.

Nevertheless the race was enjoyable.

Cheung Chau RTI Run 2006 - Cancelled

Cheung Chau RTI Race 2006 - Cancelled

When I was taking the ferry to Cheung Chau to attend the captioned race at 1315 hrs on 2006/9/9, the rain was really heavy with occasional thunders.

I was later contacted by a male staff of Cheung Chau Rural Committee that the race was cancelled due to the red rainstorm signal.

I arrived at Cheung Chau later and found there was no rain at all.

After a brief lunch at a HK style restaurant I had an easy walk along the race course (with red arrows).

The race course was nice despite there were many construction works undergoing which might be threats to the runners.

The trip to Cheung Chau was nice despite the disppointed cancellation of the race.

Saturday, September 09, 2006

RRAC 8 Km Summer Run

I completed the RRAC 8 Km Summer Run in 38 mins 10 secs+ in the morning today.

The race was held at the riverside of Shatin Shing Mun River which was totally flat.

The temperature was nice at 23 C and without sunshine.

I enjoyed the race very much despite I has only slept for less than 4 hours last evening.

Saturday, September 02, 2006

Thaiquain Cup 10 Km Run 2006

Having completed the captioned run in 56 mins+ in the morning today.

The hot temperature and high humidity added some difficulties to the race.

I ran pretty slow at the 1st 5 Km which used nearly 31 mins to complete.

However the race was well organized despite the girl staff wrongly gave me a small size running tee after the race.

Another surprise was the appearance of special guest Maggie SHIU who looked smart & pretty today.

A nice run again.

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Running exercise at Sir Cecil's Ride

I had an one hour running exercise at 1530 hrs at Sir Cecil's Ride in the sun yesterday.
Despite of the hot temperature and high humidity, there were many runners and hikers on the way.
The cemented uphill course of the path making the run somewhat uncomfortable.
A Nice run anyway.

Sunday, August 20, 2006

Chung Hing Cup 10 Km Summer Run 2006

Just having completed the captioned race in 52 mins+.

The temperature was very hot and many runners suffered from heat stroke today.

When I was doing warm up exercise near the starting point, a lady runner suddenly fell down behind me. She was unconscious for at least 30 secs. Luckily she seems to be fine after being taken care by the AMS.

Wishing the runner could complete the race and recover later.

Just learnt from TVB news that 17 runners suffered from heat stroke and 5 of them being hospitalized.

Southern District Cross Country Run 2006

Having joined the Southern District Cross Country Run in the morning, and complted the race in 33 mins 2x secs.

The weather was sunny with extremely hot temperature which making me sweating a lot just after the warming up exercise.

However part of the trail was still muddy.

Enjoyed the running race anyway.

Solo hiking in hot summer

I've a solo hiking at about 1100 hrs in the morning today.

The weather is sunny and extremely hot (about 32 C). Luckily there are some breezes from time to time.

Enjoyed the hike very much.

Reunification Run 2006

Just completed the 4.1 Km run in 23 mins in the morning today.

It rained heavily soon after the race.

It was more difficult just to walk down the steep Wanchai Gap Road in such heavy rain than the run indeed.

Despite not havinf a face run and the congestion in the part of the trail run.

Good racing anyway.

Sunday, June 18, 2006

Olympic Run 2006

Having completed the run today within 21 mins. I guess the distance is only closed to 4.2 - 3 Km.

Moreover the sounir Tee being well designed with special material "Coolflux"

Enjoyed the event indeed.

Saturday, June 10, 2006

Running in heavy rain

Just returned home after having a 2 hrs+ long distance running exercise (about 20 Kms) in Sai Kung.

The rain was pretty heavy after 10 Kms, and I was totally wet.

Despite the poor weather, it was a nice run indeed.

It's a nice practice to have gathering with other runners every month indeed.

Tuesday, May 16, 2006

Running exercises in the sun

Having a running exercise with members of HK runners at Happy Valley Sports Ground to and from Bowen Road on 2006/5/14 (Sunday).

The weather was sunny with hot temperature.

The uphill route to Bowen Road nearly killed me in such hot weather.

Nice run anyway.

Hong Kong Runner Half Marathon 2006

Despite not having trained running for two weeks due to lower black pain and sudden collapse on last Saturday, I still managed to complete the half marathon in 2 hrs 7 mins.

However, the last 2 Kms nearly killed me that I almost exhausted.

I was not confident in completing the race in the morning indeed.

Completion of the race is already a bonus regarding my physical strength today.

Running exercise in a hot and humid day

Having a 20 Km running exercise at Sai Kung with the members of hkrunners.com.

The hot temperature and high humidity really increased the difficulties of the running exercise.

The frequent traffic along the course also became an annoying factor.

It's a nice running exercise anyway.

Saturday, March 25, 2006

Clearwater Bay Annual Chase 10 Km 2006

Having completed the captioned race in about 53 mins 30 mins in the morning toady.
The weather is not too bad to run today, with the cloudy and cooler temperature. Luckily there was no rain during the race.
Since the route was changed from 12 Km to 10 Km this year, the race was less demanding indeed.
I felt happy to meet so many fellow ruuners including my younger brother in the race today.
Looking forward to the Reservoir Cup Race 3 next Sunday.
Wishing there will be no rain, otherwise the Boa Vista will be more difficult to run.

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Hong Kong Mount Butler 15 K Cross-country Race 2006

Just having completed the race in 1 hr 29 mins+.
Having no difficulties in running up the slope from Tai Tam Reservoir today, but feeling dizzy after passing Quarry Bay.
I guess it was caused by my low blood pressure.
Still enjoyed the race despite there was not enough time to warm up after having arrived at the starting point at 0700 hrs +.

Saturday, March 11, 2006

Perskindol Shatin Riverside 10 Km Run 2006

There was a lot ups and downs in the course but I did not feel any difficulties this time. I guess it was the effect of the cooler temperature and the cooling effect of the rain.

Enjoyed the run with so many running lovers very much.

Deepest Sympathy

Wishing such tragedy never happen again.

The Classic and Standard Chartered HK Marathon 2006

Having watch the Korean movie The Classic in the evening yesterday. The movie was in fact a little bit "silly" with old fashion style. However it's very touching.

After watching the movie and another animation Monster, I went to bed at 0130 hrs. I woke up at 0430 hrs and only had 3 hrs sleeping last evening.

I arrived at the starting point at 0530 hrs in the morning today, and had a simple breakfast (cake + soya bean milk)

My left foot was so tense at the first 10 Km and could not run fast. Luckily it become much better after 10 Km and I could run faster afterwards.

Finally I completed the race in 1 hr 57 mins which is similar to last yr's record.

A strong built lady runner follwed me after 15 Km and shouting "add oil" making me quite annoyed. I had to faster my pace to loose her.

Luckily I got away from her before the exit of Western Tunnel.

I sprinted in the last 200 metres and over took several expatriate male runners also making me feel good

Running and Munich

I had my last 5 Km running session at Sir Cecil's Ride in the afternoon today.

The weather was fine with cooler temperature and a lot of sunshine.

My feet were heavy but my heart was even heavier after having watched the movie Munich earlier in the afternoon.

We should be grateful that we were not born in Israel or palestine's refuge's camp.

I'm also thankful that I have the chance to run in our mother nature with so many lovely birds and trees around. There are so many people having no chance to see the sunrise in the next morning.

Munich is the kind of greatest movies that standing with Godfather I & II. A Better Tomorrow by NG Yu Sum will be looked like a movie student's gradruated work compared with Munich.

However if you wish to watch an entertaining movie and leaving with a light heart, Munich will be your last choice.

I'm so glad that I have a chance to join the Hong Kong Marathon on the coming Sunday. There are so many unfortunate people who died from SARS or other accidents should have the same chance to join the run too.

Munich will probaly bring me numerous sleepless nights after having waken up by nightmares.

I really love Munich

State of mind

After the heat debate online last evening, I have a second thought about the training in long run

I believe that too many mileages (50 to 120 Km per week) only cause back and knee injuries and does not guarantee a good result
That's why I don't buy the theory of LI Kar Lun or FUNG Hong
I guess muti training is more suitable for ordinary runners like us
Moreover state of mind is another important matter for a marathoner. Many "slow" sport such as Tai Chi, Yoga could enhance the concentration and state of mind of a marathoner
That's why those free divers used yoga to enhance their state of mind to dive deeper and deeper
Just to share with U my thinking indeed

Friday, February 03, 2006

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2006

Just having collected my SCM running pack at Victoria Park in the morning today

The arrangement was nice that I could collect my stuff within 2 minutes

The best thing is that both MTR & KCR have arranged Marathon Express this year

I have no need to risk my life to take those overnight PLB this year

Hong Kong Half Marathon 2006

I attended the Mizuno Hong Kong Half Marathon in the morning today
Unluckily wearing too much clothes getting me nearly overheated during the run
The worst matter was my legs gatting cramp in turn after 17 Km

Still enjoying the race anyway

Sunday, January 01, 2006

Sir Cecil's Ride

Having a 13 km running exercise at Sir Cecil's Ride in the afternoon today
Despite those numerous hikers jamming on the trail, I enjoyed my running today

Unfortunately a large portion of the trail has been covered with "breathless" cement between the shelter and Mount Butler Rd
The HK government choose to cover every trail with cement is extremely stupid indeed

Running exercise

Having a 52 mins running exercise (about 10.5 Km) at Sir Cecil's Ride
The cooler temperature making the run more comfortable
A wild cat ran in front of me when I was running at the trail.
The birds made a loud noise after the cat jumped into the bush
There are two expatriate female runners running at the opposite direction when I ran for 40 mins
Enjoy the running today very much

Running Exercise

Having a 30 mins lite run at Sir Cecil's Ride in the afternoon today
Still feeling tire with sour legs after the Gold Coast 15 Km last Sunday
The temperature is a little bit cooler , but I felt uncomfortable with hot inside and cool on the surface
Nearly bumped into an expatriate young gal runner in the opposite direction, who run in a faster speed
Despite my tire body and mind, I enjoy the running exercise today

Gold Coast 15 Km Run

Just having completed the 15 Km run in the morning in about 1 hr 25 mins today
The temperature was still hot with a lot of sunshine and high hudmidity
I sprinted at the last 400 m and passed about 7 runners to reach the finishing point
Still enjoyed the run despite about 7 mins slower than last yr
However, early leaving costed me the chance to take picture with the Champion (as usual) Mark Willaims

Luckily there is breeze from time to time making the exercise
Enjoying the exercise anyway
Surprisingly no runners was met on the whole journey

Fila Half Marathon 2005

Just having returned home after having completed the Fila Half Marathon in 2 hrs 4 mins

It was a slow time indeed bause of lack of running practice and the hot weather

I have not enough running practice for almost a month, and making my running extremely difficult today

I guess I might have suffered mild heat stroke in the final 2 Km. I felt cold from head to toe while running in the "wild" sun light

However, I felt satisfied and happy when crossing the finish line finally

AVOHK 5 Km - Wanchai Gap

Just having finished the AVOHK 5 K run in 27 mins (quite a slow time)
I felt pretty tire today and run in a slower pace than usual

After the completeion of the race, I walked down to the Bowen Road and run for about 3 Km to HK Park
Having a small chat with an expatriate male runner who finished the race in 18 mins
Having a cup of coffee and web surfing at Pacific Coffee and was quite a relaxing matter later

Lok Wah Cup 2005 10 Km Race

Having waken up at 0500 hrs in the morning, and caught the 1st bus to attend the captioned race at Ma On Shan from Quarry Bay

The journey was so quick and I arrived at Ma On Shan at 0640 hrs.

I then had a heavy breakfast at Cafe Maxim at Yiu On Estate ("Lo Mai Kai" + hot milk tea)

The temperature was so hot that just waiting for the starting of the race making me sweating a lot

I felt hot like hell during the running, but still managed to finish the race within 54 mins

Without any breeze the running was extremely difficult indeed

However, i still enjoy the run very much

Unfortunately the Watson's Cross Country Run was cancelled again in the morning today
I phoned the HKAAA's hotline after having at the Tin Hau MTR Station, and was told the race being cancelled due to poor weather
This is the 2nd races being cancelled within 2 weeks, and I was so disappointed

Having learnt there is a nice web site promoting the wind energy

Death will tear us apart

Four runners died during the running at The Great North Run at England yesterday. This reminded me the uncertainty of life and you never know the date and place you die.

Similar to the song of Joy Division "Love will tear us apart" that "Death will tear us apart" too.

To me the god of death had passed me shoulder by shoulder for several times already including serious sickness in childhood, nearly falling from cliff at Mount Kinabaru................

Death is always closed to you which is out of your imagination and planning.

If I could choose the time & place to die, I might probably choose to die during an international marathon (at 50 yrs old) than to dying on a bed in hospital.

However, we don't have any choice. Don't we?

Race cancelled

When I took a bus from Wan Chai to the starting point of AVOHK 5 Km Run 2005 yesterday, the rain was really heavy.

After 15 minutes waiting at the Wan Chai Gap park, the organizer decided the race to be cancelled due to the storm warning signal

Honestly I was quite disappointed to miss a chance of racing in the rain

I then decide to take a short walk to leave the starting point

Having a 1.5 hrs hiking I finally reached Aberdeen (originally I wished to go to Wanchai instead0

The rain was quite heavy on my way to Aberdeen and some workers were still trying to clear some landslide along the way

Hiking solo in such poor weather is a little bit dangerous indeed

A happy day of my life

I enjoy today very much

Firstly I had a nice run at Sir Cecil's Ride despite the hot and humid weather

Secondly I attended a nice mini concert performed by Mara Carlyle at RTHK in the evening tonight

Moreover, there is a reception before the concert including tasteful England snacks with different kinds of drinks (Red and white rine, soda water, Coke and organge juice) I had them all and was very satisfied.

The performance by Mara was extremely well. She could even play with a saw and the guitarist Chris played very well too

Unfortunately my attention was sometimes taken away by the low cut dress Mara wore tonight

Finally a violin duo "Duo" played very nice fusion/classic music by Saint Jean and Brahms to end this wonderful mini concert

Honestly I could not ask more for this free concert

Although the weather was so hot, I managed to completed the race in 40 mins+

I was very happy that I met several local and expatriate running pals from hkrunners.com. They were all very friendly and we colud have a chance to take a group picture after the race too

The weather was really hot and my cotton running vest was wet completely after the race

The race course was a little bit narrow with a lot of bicycles

However, I enjoyed the run very much

Will join it next yr too

Running Exercise

Having a running exercise at Sir Cecil's Ride in the afternoon today

Although it's cloudy, the temperature was still very hot. Luckily there was breeze from time to time cooling me down.
Having met two runners on the trail and both of them were in quick paces

When walking down the mountain, I come across a pair of hikers. The guy tried to overtake me, and I sped up my paces. However without wearing my glasses I barely could see the step, and had to run down step by step. Luckily the phone of the guy rang and I could expand the distance.
That's me who reached the main road first and had the final say, "To run with me, U're not even qualified"

Enjoyed the run very much today

Thaiquain High Island 10 Km Run 2005

Having completed the captioned race within 54 mins on 4/9/2005 (Sunday)

The rain was quite heavy before 0900 hrs, and really worried the race would be cancelled. Luckily the rain stopped at 0900 hrs and there was no rain during the race.

I later learnt that the hudmidity on that day was over 90 which explained why my cotton running vest (Fila Mount Butler 2005) was just as wet as having been washed

I was lack of condition this time but still enjoyed the race

Chung Hing 10 Km Run 2005

Just returned home after having completed the 10 Km race at about 51 mins at 0815 hrs at Shing Mun Reservoir

Luckily there was no rain during the race in the morning. The rain was heavy after I returned to Hong Kong Island, and was more heavily one day before the race.

However, the humidity and temperature was still very high which making the run so difficult for me

Anyway I enjoyed the run despite the jamming at the 1st 2 Km making me almost mad

Absent from running for 2 weeks+

Having absented from running for more than 2 weeks due to poor weather, laziness and over sleep.

I ran under the extreme hot sun at 1130 hrs at Sir Cecil's Ride for 35 mins which already boiled me up.

I have not seen any runners today, only two mountain bikers passed me on the trails.

Despite the heat and absent of breeze, I still enjoy the run very much today

Having met 3 female and 1 male runners on the trail, and all of them seems confortable

I really enjoy the run today. Although one of the girl runner resting with heavy breath beside a stream, I guess she did enjoy the running exercise.

Running Exercise

There was a little sun light in the afternoon at Quarry Bay today.
Having run for about 36 mins at Sir Cecil's Ride already making me boiled up.
Luckily there was some breeze which cooling me down from time to time.
There were two expatriate male runners running towards me in the opposite directions. Both of them run in a faster paces than me.
I did enjoy the running practice in the wild, because there were so many butterflies, birds, trees arounds.

Life will be much boring without running!

Running exercise

Having praticed running under such hot temperature at Sir Cecil's Ride really making me sweating a lot.

When I was walking up the mountain, I was passed by a colleague who was running towards Quarry Gap. I was surprised by his physical strength to run up the mountain under such hot weather. This also explained why he was 1.5 mins faster than me on the race at the Peak.

Run harder and get better performance !

RRAC Summer Run

I joined the RRAC Summer Run (8 Km) in the morning at Ma On Shan today.
The temperature is extremely hot with plenty of sunlight too.
However, I managed to finish the race at about 38 mins (5 mins faster than last yr)
I saw many last year's keen competitors being a lot slower than me this year too.

Enjoying the race anyway and the can of Red Bull delivered after the race.

Running in the rain

Wearing my golden Nike 10 Km Running Tee I practiced my running at Sir Cecil's Ride at 1430 hrs today.

Despite the raining and foggy weather I still encountered an expatriate male runner in my opposite direction.

Having a long time not running in the rain, the exercise given me a fresh experience.

The trail was surprisingly not muddy at all.

I enjoy running in the mountain trail than on the track of sports ground indeed.

Running Exercise

I usually walk from the trail behind Mount Parker Lodge to the beginning of Sir Cecil's Ride (at Mount Parker Road) and then run to the centre distance of the ride and returns to the Quarry Bay Market.

I don't run fast too (my PB of 10 Km is 46 mins only)

I practiced my running at Sir Cecil's Ride at 1430 hrs today as usual.
The hunmidity is high with a little foggy making my breath a little bit difficult.
Surprsingly I encountered two runners running in the opposite direction (A blondie gal expatriate runner in bar top and a topless strong build man runner)
Enjoy my run in such cloudy and foggy weather still.

My weight is under well control after I practiced my running 1.5 year ago. I weight 145 lbs with a height of 5 ft 11 inches now.

Hoping the sport of running in HK will keep on and on in the future.

Runner's tragedy

It is really a sad news to learn an experienced runner was killed and two other runners suffered from serious injury in an traffic accident in Macao yesterday.

The driver claimed he tried to evade a crossing dog and caused the accident. However, the speed he driven must be too high that he could not control his vehicle and crossed to the opposite link. I wish this "silly" driver will be sentenced to jail, and could alert other drivers to drive safe.

I don't exercise my running on road with traffic to avoid inhaling of the deadly smok. I prefer running on trail or sports ground which is much safer and could breathe fresher air.

Road running could be so dangerous indeed.

Recovery Hiking

Not having hiking for a while since the beginning of the running seanson in September last year.

I conducted a recovery hiking today from Mount Parker, through Siu Ma Shan to Hong Kong Parkview, and then Tai Tam Resevoir to Quarry Gap and back to Kornhill. I completed the trail (about 20 Km) in 2 hrs 30 mins.

Surprisingly my feet were still tire and without strength since the Mount Bulter Race last Sunday.

However, I did enjoy the hiking because of the perfect weather despite the smog and windy sometimes.

It's pity that my MP3 player ran out of order and I could not listen to classic music on the way. I did like watching eagles flying over me. They are really elegant birds.

The 29 th Fila Mount Bulter Race

Having completed the captioned race in 1 hr 29 mins (5 mins faster than last year) However I had to wait for almost a minute for the staff to scan my bar code. I don't think the bar code system works good especially comparing with the Champion Chip system.

The weather is perfect for cross country run today. I ran very smooth during the course, and my feet are light and nearly making no sound when running.

I had to apology to a female runner that I pushed her back when trying to pass her at the last 2 Km.

I only slowed my pace when running uphill to the Quarry Gap. However, I did not feel the exhausting as I ran the Reservoir Cup earlier.

I will join the same race next year with a view to completing the course with 1 hr 20 mins.

Saturday, March 19, 2005

Departmental Annual Road Race 2005

Just having completed the annual departmenatal road race (3.62 Km) on the Peak today.

The weather and temperature is perfect for running today. I completed the race within 17 mins (about 16 : 30 mins/forgotten to press the stop buttom of my Casio)

I run quite smooth today with some reservation for the Mount Bulter Race tomorrow. I guess this race was a perfect warm up the cross country run tomorrow.

Really enjoy running on the Peak because the scenery is so beautiful.

Mizuno Reservoir Cup Race 4 - Tai Tam

Having completed the captioned race in 1 hr 11 mins. The extremly slow time was caused by lack of practising. I have not practised running for two weeks after the Hong Kong Marathon. Lack of practising making my feet extremly heavy when running uphill. In fact I walked a lot when running uphill. Moreover the Boa Vista is too slippery and narrow to run or overtaking those walking runners.

The temperature was really cold in the morning today. My hands almost frozen while running.

Feet of Fire 10 Km

Having completed the captioned race in Tai Mei Tuk within 51 mins in the morning today. I am still suffered from heavy legs 1 week after the Half Marathon on 27/2/2005.

The weather is perfect for running today. However, the atomsphere was so cool that even cooling down my spirit. The race seems to be a political promotion (poor) rather than a sport event to me.

Won't join the race next year.

Hong Kong Marathon 2005

I've completed the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon's Half Marathon in 1 hr 54 mins on 27/02/2005 (Sunday). I ranked 1278 among 7533 runners.

The temperature was cold and cloudy on the race day. I found it was just suitable for a long run. However, some slow runners/walkers really annoyed me. Some of the HM participants walked and chatted from the 2nd Km and blogged the way of faster runners.

The arrangement of the collection of packages has been improved a lot. I did not need to queue to collect my own stuff indeed.

I'm looking forward to finishing my next HM within 1 hr 45 mins now.

Running is an important part of my life now

Preparation for Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon

The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon is coming to town on 27/2/2005 (Sunday)
I will attend the Half Marathon this year, and aiming my result to be 1 hr 45 mins.

I am going to take more carbo-hydrates in the following weeks. My food list will include more bananas, peanut butter, wheat/cereal and less meat.

I wish the weather will be better this year, cause the cold and rainy weather last year is really horrible. The confusion of the arrangement of the collection of the luggages making the case worse too.

According to the Runners World of March 2005, there are 10 laws of injury prevention :

1. Increase Mileage Gradually
2. Increase Intensity Gradually
3. Increase Mileage Before Speed
4. Alternative hard Efforts with Rest
5. Pay Attention to Early Warning Signs
6. Wear the Right Running Shoes
7. Mix it Up
8. Increase Your Flexibility and Strength
9. Vary Your Workouts and Terrain
10. Fuel Properly

Fat Choy Run

Having completed the captioned race held on The Peak today.

The temperature was a little bit cool at the start, but I found myself warmed up after having run for less than 1 Km.

I was frustrated that I could not take ove a lady runner with a back pack. I guess I have to practice my running harder in the coming future.

I enjoyed the running anyway.

Sunday, January 30, 2005

China Coast Half Marathon

Having completed the captioned race in 2 hrs 3 mins. The time is quite slow even to me.
I felt my feet pretty heavy today, and could not speed up my paces especially during running (nearly walking) uphill.

However, the moisture weather making the race quite special - running in the mist.

I enjoy running the race, and appreciated the nice arrangement and quick releasing of the result (on the same evening) too.

Sunday, January 23, 2005

Mizuno Half Marathon

I've joined the captioned race today, and completed the race in 1 hr 56 mins (6 mins slower than my 1st HM)

Wearing too much clothes (1 T + 1 long sleeves running T)making me nearly overheated, especially at the last 2 Km on the dam of Plover Cove Reservoir

Anyway, I enjoyed the race, and wish to have improvement in China Coast HM next Sunday

Running exercise

I went running at the Sir Cecil's Ride in the afternoon today. The sky is cloudy and the temperature is around 18 C (perfect for running)
However the air pollution (in HK) is worse today.
I wear my brand new long sleeves T to run which making me quite hot inside (cool at the surface)
I came across a strong built runner in the course who ran topless. Luckily I have my long sleeves to cover my "thin" body

Reservoir Cup Race 2 - Ho Pui

I completed the captioned race in 1 hr 13 mins yesterday.
The temperature was a little bit cold, but became much warmer after having warmed up and the adequate sunlight.
The race was well organized, and the result was released in the same evening.
However, the event was spoiled by some greedy runners, who had taken 3 to 6 bananas home for comsumption. I guess there will be some slow runners having no banana to eat after the race.

Shek Kong 10 Km Run

I joined the Shek Kong 10 Km Run on 2/1/2005.
The weather is rather cool, but I feel quite warm after having warmed up.
I completed the race in 52 mins, and feel my condition much better then the Reebok 15 Km in Dec 2004.
Hoping to join the 30 Km Run of the same race next year (2006)

http://www.ecotourism.org.hk/hkmp/first.htm

2nd Mount Bulter Training Run

I joined the 2nd Mount Bulter Training Run in Happy Valley Sports Ground in the evening yesterday.
Surprisingly, only two runners (including me) joined the training.
Follwing the trainer in running 5 rounds was a nice experience in speeding up.
By the way the temperature was suitable for running too, although a little bit cool in the beginning.

Mount Bulter Training Race

I joined the captioned training course at Sir Cecil's Ride yesterday

I did not find much to learn in the course indeed. Just having a run with 8 other runners for 10 Km only.

However, a veteran Japanese runner (age : 72) did make me surpise. Especially when he mentioned he had a 15 km run in the morning already. I rather go to sleep in the afternoon if I had run for 15 km in the morning.

In the morning on the same day, I read the interview with Mark Williams in SCMP. I also surprised me to learn that Mark usually run two sessions (12 @ session) a day (6 days a week). This add up to 144 km per week. Quite amazing milages
